的 25th Anniversary Literary Arts Festival proudly welcomes stage actor, director, lecturer, 和 prolific playwright, 马修Salazar-Thompson, delivering the LAF’s first scripted reading by a published playwright since 2003. And not a minute too soon!
Matt Thompsonis the author dozens of one-act 和 full-length plays over his career, many of which arepublished 和 distributed through Dramatic Publishing, Heuer Publishing, Eldridge Publishing, Brooklyn Publishing, 和 Norman Maine Publishing. In 2016 Mr. Thompson collaborated with La Mama Experimental 的atre Group in Umbria, Italy with resident master playwright Mac Wellman in the development of his comedy《戏剧全史》(节选)以及对 的146点火焰, name-checkedby南方戏剧杂志as one of the top ten plays to produce on the social topic of immigration. Thompson received his Master of Arts in 的atre from San Diego State University 和 his MFA in 创意写作 / Playwriting from UC Riverside. Former Artistic Director of Point Loma Playhouse 和 former Associate Artistic Director of North Coast Repertory 的atre, his acting chops include favorably reviewed performances at the La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego Repertory 的atre, North Coast Repertory 的atre, Cygnet 的atre, Sierra Repertory 的atre, Lamb’s Player’s 的atre, Moxie 的atre, Diversionary 的atre, 和 others.
Matt Salazar Thompson hasled 的atre courses at local area colleges 和 universities, including Grossmont大学 和 San Diego City College. Currently, heteaches in the 的atre 和 Film Department at San José State University.

She is a board member for Jaded Ibis Press, an independent press focused on BIPOC writers, 和 is on the Literary Awards Committee for the PEN Foundation. She is currently theDirector of the MFA in Writing 和 an Associate Professor of Literature at UC San Diego.

Exceptional writers from this semester's creative writing classes 和 workshops come
together to perform some of their best new 和 original works of fiction, literary
nonfiction, poetry, drama, spoken word, mixed media word art, 和 other hybrid 和
innovative forms.
This semesterly event is a crowd favorite for Grossmont faculty 和 students, alike, 和 is a tradition dating back almost all the way to the beginnings of Grossmont大学, itself. Each semester, our 创意写作 Program faculty select students from their courses who have composedst和-out original works, 和 invite them to participate in an evening of readings. Students typically invite family members, friends, instructors 和 peers, making it one of the more popular literary events on campus. 的 event features a New Voices booklet containing the printed versions of their works that allows audiences to read along if they like, 和 gives participating students a keepsake of the evening.
Students selected for inclusion in the New Voices program are also given priority
consideration for the campus literary journal,橡子审查,which is edited 和 produced by students under the advisorship of 创意写作
