He is an author and performer of staged multimedia works. Currently he is an associate professor and director of ethnic studies at California State University San Marcos and is serving as poet laureate of San Diego from 2023 to 2024.

Wildfires have devastated Lahaina, Pulehu and Upcountry on the island of Maui. Thankfully our members' ohanas are okay. The Committee is trying to find the best way to help in this time of need. In the meantime, here are some links to resources who are supporting the rescue efforts. We will try and update information as we receive them. Local Hawaii businesses are having a hard time shipping supplies to the affected areas so monetary donations from California are best right now.
