
The annual Fall Reading Seriespresents a season of events celebrating literature, showcasing award-winning authors, 和 honoring the inspiration to write. Events are sponsored by the 英语系 和 创意写作计划 of Grossmont大学, as well as a variety of other campus agencies 和 programs.

The next installment of the annual reading celebrating National Banned Books Week will showcase the irreverent, the controversial, the rebellious, 和 revolutionary underbelly of literature with new readings, lectures, 和 performances by students 和 faculty.
The reading is the brainchild of retired 英语 instructor Joe Medina, who has annually hosted the event since 1992. This year, the event will be hosted by colleague Alan Traylor.

about women in rock journalism, her life with Lester Bangs, 和 start of the indie
rock era. An early pioneer for women inmusic journalism, Jaan Uhelszki got her start
alongside Lester Bangs, Roberta Cruger, 和 David Marsh—considered the “dream team”
of rock writing in the mid-1970s. Among the artists with whom she has traveled as
journalist is KISS, Leonard Skynard, 和 Led Zeppelin. She has interviewed Jimmy Page,
Al Green, Neil Young, Iggy Pop, Oasis, Green Day, 和 countless other rock artists.
Currently a contributing editor for《滚石》杂志在网上,Uhelszki在新音乐快车,乡村之声,Spin, Mojo,另类出版社,Blender,和旧金山纪事报,并经常以音乐权威的身份出现VH1的《音乐背后》。Her awards include Online Journalist of the Year 和 National Feature Writer

A Grossmont大学 alumnus (1966-1968), Leslie Conway "Lester" Bangs has come to be recognized as “America’s Greatest Rock Critic.” Considered one of the most influential voices in rock criticism, music critic Bangs is credited for coining the terms "punk" 和 "heavy metal." The annual memorial reading celebrates his subversive spirit, his creativity, 和 his ability to continue to influence generations of writers.
