Demonstrators surrounded City Hall and marched around Pershing Square, calling for change and denouncing the police brutality that has led to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and more in recent months. However, an overall message of healing and solidarity prevailed throughout the afternoon, with many participating in sing-alongs or simply showing support with a hug. As we celebrate the Juneteenth weekend, let us remember the movements and protests like this one, as well as the countless others throughout history, which continue to pave the way toward equality and true justice for all.
